American Plant & Equipment Asset Recovery

Roebuck, South Carolina, since 1975

Who you are dealing with

This site is the selling side of American Plant & Equipment. The main site sells machines. This one buys them, which is the half of the business that most people never see.

The company

American Plant & Equipment was founded in 1975 in Roebuck, South Carolina, and it has done the same thing ever since: buy production machinery that a plant no longer needs, move it, and sell it to a plant that does. That is the whole business. Everything else, the sourcing, the freight, the export paperwork, the consulting, grew out of doing it enough times.

Today the company works across 18 industries, from textiles and nonwovens through foam and bedding, printing and converting, plastics, packaging, food, paper, metalworking and power generation. There are more than 97,000 machines listed with us. That number matters here for 1 reason only: it is what a buyer network looks like in a single figure. It is why a machine coming off your floor has somewhere to go.

The man

Victor LeBron, the owner and president, has been in industrial machinery since the company started. He still takes the calls, still walks the floors, and still gives the valuations. The stated purpose of the company, in his words, is to realize the most value for the client. On the selling side that means telling you the truth about what you have, including when the truth is that another route will beat us.

He also runs paid consulting sessions through the main site on machinery selection, production line setup, plant liquidation and appraisal strategy, moving heavy equipment, international sourcing and negotiation. If your question is bigger than a valuation, that is where it goes.

Why we are not an auctioneer

An auctioneer sells you a date. They advertise your machines, run the sale, take a commission, and on the day the room decides what your equipment is worth. That is a real service and sometimes it is the right one, which is why we say so on every page where it comes up.

We do something different. We are the buyer. We tell you what we think the machinery is worth, we tell you what we would pay for it, and if you accept then the number is settled before anything moves and the risk of what the building hides becomes ours. There is no room, no day, and no wondering who shows up.

Why we are not a listing site

A listing waits for a stranger. Meanwhile you carry the space, the insurance, the deterioration and the uncertainty. We already know who buys this class of machine, because we sell to them every week, and most of what we buy goes to an end user abroad rather than back into a yard.

What we will and will not do

  • We will give you a written valuation for nothing, and tell you which standard of value we used.
  • We will tell you when an auction or a broker beats us for what you have.
  • Ask for a mutual non-disclosure agreement before a detailed list changes hands.
  • We will not publish your site, your address or your list.
  • We will not quote a figure for a machine we have not seen described.
  • We will not tell you a machine is worthless to get it cheaply. The trade is small and reputations last.

Send the list, however rough it is. You get back what we think it is worth and what we would do in your position.

Send us the list

A rough list is enough to start. We come back privately, in writing, with what we believe it is worth on the timeline you actually have.
